I have taken part in all 5 VimJams over on itch, and so even if hell froze over, I couldn't miss this year's jam.(Despite having literally no time to take part.)
The theme was "Racing" and "Escape", which lined up perfectly with one of my least favorite games, out of those that I've made in the past. DeltaChase, a game I've posted here on Newgrounds, is one I made in a very short amount of time as "filler" content on my YouTube channel.... Which just happen to "blow up", and a way that I've never been able to replicate, and it's kind of bugged me a little ever since. 🤏😅
So I wanted to remake the game, both out of spite and curiosity, to see how much I've grown as a developer and if I could recreate that lightning in a bottle. So I grabbed an asset pack from Ansimuz, a well known pixel artist on itch, and music from Lightspeed6, a musician I know, and got to work recreating my least favorite game.
It didn't score very well in the jam... But I got a good enough of feedback, and made a number of fixes to the game with that feedback. I think it's in a good enough state now to share, so I hope you like it! 👀
