3 Game Reviews w/ Response

All 7 Reviews

Diagnosing and fixing cars wasn't really the thing I enjoyed about this game, even though that was oddly satisfying, and the match 3 mini-game was a nice touch. (And of course, watching your money increase is a lizard brain thing.)

What I enjoyed was swiping parts from my friends when they placed an order for their own parts. Though that didn't start happening til later in the game, after we used up the parts sitting around in the workshop.

MalanaDigital responds:

Thanks for the response! I wanted to add a bit of competition between the players and the match 3 mini-game is just a way to distract you long enough to give someone a chance to steal your parts! I didn't get to test the game with enough people so most of it was theory but I'm glad it worked out. I could reduce the parts lying around at the start, but I also wanted to give the player an excuse to explore at first and try compete to gather parts. Maybe in a future update I may make it randomly generate parts and their locations so exploration is encouraged.

Definitely more fun with friends. Yelling back and forth about how much health each of you have, and deciding who is going to spend time fighting and who is going to spend time plugging up holes was fun.

The dodge mechanic was a little stiff, but it felt great when you managed to dodge a bullet and pop up to counter attack.

JJGamez64 responds:

I can understand the critique on the dodge feeling stiff. It's just one of those hasty balancing decisions where I either make the dodge OP with 0 cooldown or make the enemies more aggressive to maintain a decent challenge.
I opted to not buff the enemies since it'd make repairs more annoying and just nerfed the dodge.

I love how you can revive other players, it's a simple addition that makes the multiplayer a lot more fun.

The ranger role didn't change much about gameplay, but playing as the mechanic or defender changes how you play a lot, and makes your role in the team very clear. Really fun with friends in a voice chat.

Jurfix responds:

Thanks for the review and for nominating us for first place in the jam, I'm so glad you liked the game and were able to play it with friends and voice chat, it's really cool and that's how you can get the most out of this simple game, multiplayer makes this game. Ranger was called "BalancedChar" during development, I think we've reached that middle ground, by the way we have a difficulty increase system based on the number of players, so playing solo and playing in four are completely different things, thanks again and good luck!
